Documents political and economic conditions in West Michigan from the 1880's to 1924. As Master in Chancery of the United States District, Lawrence acted as a receiver for banks and railroads, particularly during the 1893 depression. The papers also document Lawrence's work in the Kent County, Michigan Democratic Party.
